What Not to Wear to a Wedding

    Last updated 4 months ago

While weddings are a great opportunity to dress up, they also expose those who are yet to correctly translate dress code requirements. Regardless of theme, style or type of wedding there are a few definitive fashion faux pas that are best left firmly in the closet.

    Don’t Wear White

This is especially true if you are a female. If you want to trigger slight rage in an already anxious bride, by all means don yourself head to toe in snow white regalia. You will not only draw attention away from the bride, but people will talk about you for all the wrong reasons.

Ere on the Side of Conservative

Nothing short, nothing low cut and definitely not a combination of the two. From a practical side, you will spend all night tugging and shifting your dress into place and guests will see this as an inappropriate distraction.

    Jeans and a T-Shirt

It doesn’t matter how new age your wedding couple is, jeans and a t-shirt suggests that you don’t care. Given that this is one day in the couple’s life dedicated to their commitment, the least you can do is wear something that is smart and respectful.

    A Ball Gown

A wedding is not a ball, so save the gown for a function that necessitates a full length, hooped dress. Nothing screams ‘look at me’ more than a dress fit for a bride.

    Keep Colours Muted

By all means wear nice bright clothes, but don’t wear a one-block colour and complete the look with a fascinator. Once again, the whole point of a wedding is to have all eyes on the bride, and any attempt to sabotage this will be frowned upon.

Top Five Wedding Trends to Try In 2013

    Last updated 4 months ago

If you are only just beginning to get your 2013 wedding plans underway, make sure you consider some of these new and vintage wedding trends that are forecast to be popular in the coming year.

    1. Classic 1920s Style

Vintage 1920s is one wedding trend that never seems to go out of fashion. This year brides are set to go all out with this style, including wearing flapper dresses, beaded headpieces and court heels (no stilettos thankfully!).

    2. Pretty Prints

As the rules of the white wedding are slowly going out the window, more adventurous brides and grooms will start to use spots, stripes and lots of fun prints in order to set the tone for casual, less structured wedding ceremonies.

    3. Minty Green

With the eco-chic aesthetic in full swing, local Australian foliage made of greenery rather than expensive out of season blooms necessitates the need for green in all aspects of the wedding.  Think soft pastel greens for bridal accessories, bridesmaid’s dresses and wedding decor.

    4. Long Sleeves

Thanks to Kate Middleton’s stunning long sleeved wedding dress, 2013 brides are embracing sleeved wedding dresses. Despite Sydney’s hot weather, Bride’s are willing to don the extra arm length and are opting for skin tight rather than billowy for that modern sophistication.

    5. Elegant Necklines

Contemporary brides want whimsical elegance and this will cascade into wedding dresses. Sheer mesh from the neck to the shoulder line will make waves through bridal gown fashions, appeasing our desire for the untouched bohemian chic.

Five Tips to Reduce Stress in the Lead Up to a Corporate Event

    Last updated 4 months ago

The Waterfront Function Centre shares their five tips to help relieve common stresses that come from organising and throwing a corporate event.

    1. Worship the Divine Detail

Before you start, sit down and write everything that needs to happen for the event. Break this down into mini goals that are realistic and allocate how much time will be needed for each.  Breaking down the event into smaller parts prevents you from getting too overwhelmed with the larger task at hand.

    2. Give Yourself A Break

Try not to get too bogged down in the event planning, and remember to delegate tasks to other team members. Your stress levels are likely to increase if your workload is too heavy and there aren’t enough helping hands on deck.

    3. Realise That You Can’t Control Everything

Don’t set yourself unrealistic expectations. There is only so much control you have over this event and perfection lies in the ability to accept this.

    4. Eat for Health

Don’t forget to take care of your body and nourish it from the inside out. Fast food eaten at the desk is not going to help you execute the jobs you have. Furthermore you will not be providing your body with the key nutrients it needs to ward off infection and provide you with sustained energy.

    5. Be Prepared

Don’t wait until the last minute to arrange all necessary details and arrangements. Having everything confirmed in writing will undoubtedly reduce your stress levels.
